‘I don’t know how I’d live without the jewellery’: A young woman shares her story

A woman in her 20s, who wished to remain anonymous, said: “I used to live in a house full of jewellery and I’d always think ‘how can I live without it?’.”
But now I’m at a time where I have enough to eat and to pay for my rent, I have a job and I don’t have to worry about anything other than having the money.
“The woman said she had been to a jewellery shop once, where she bought a pair of earrings for $600.
She said she’d seen an advert for a jewellers who would give her a discount on her jewellery purchase, and when she asked for more she was told they only offer it on the day she buys them.”
I said I’d like it on day one and I got it a week later,” she said.”
But I’ve had no luck in getting anything.
“Her mother was not available for comment.
Her story is one of a growing number of stories from young women who have gone on to make a life-changing financial decision that will ultimately have a profound impact on their futures.
For many of them, the decision to get rid of jewellery was an immediate and emotional one.”
